Photo booth or photographer: do you have to choose?
No. The two complement each other. Here is why, and how to combine them.
Two very different roles
| Photographer | Photo booth | |
|---|---|---|
| What it captures | Ceremony, portraits, key moments | The in-between moments, groups of friends, the silliness |
| The eye | Artistic, crafted, retouched | Spontaneous, fun, authentic |
| Who decides | The photographer chooses the angles | Guests choose their poses |
| The result | 200-500 photos delivered in 3-4 weeks | Photos printed instantly + GIFs |
| The budget | €1,000 to €3,000 | €129 to €359 |
The photographer tells the story of your day with a professional eye. The photo booth captures your guests’ view of your event. Both are precious, and neither replaces the other.
How to combine them
During the ceremony: the photographer is at work. The photo booth is not set up yet.
During the reception: the photo booth takes over while the photographer takes the official group photos. Guests are kept entertained instead of waiting around.
During dinner: a break for both.
During the evening party: the photo booth is in full swing. The photographer captures the overall atmosphere and then leaves (most photographers stay 8-10 hours). The photo booth, on the other hand, stays until the last dance.
If you have to choose
Tight budget for a wedding? Book the photographer for the ceremony and a Badabooth for the evening. You will get the official photos AND the fun memories, for €1,200-1,500 in total instead of €2,000-3,000.
Birthday or party with friends? The photo booth on its own is enough. No need for a professional photographer for a relaxed evening.
Corporate event? It depends. An executive seminar → photographer. A team building day → photo booth. An end-of-year party → both.
