How to choose a photo booth for your wedding
Looking for a photo booth for your wedding but not sure where to start? Here are the criteria that really matter, with no waffle.
1. How many photos should you plan for?
This is THE question. Allow 1.5 to 2 prints per guest:
| Number of guests | Recommended photos | Suitable package |
|---|---|---|
| 20-30 | 40-60 | 50 printed photos: €129 |
| 50-100 | 100-200 | 150 fast photos: €244 |
| 100-200 | 200-400 | Large booth, 400 photos: €359 |
If in doubt, go for the next package up. Nothing is more frustrating than a photo booth running out of paper at 11pm.
Digital photos are unlimited on every package: only the paper prints are limited.
2. With or without an attendant?
This is the budget question. A photo booth with an attendant costs €500 to €1,000 for 3-4 hours. Without an attendant, you are looking at €129-€359 (delivery included) for the whole day.
The real question is: do you need one? For 95% of weddings, no. A good self-service photo booth is set up in 5 minutes and guests understand how it works within seconds.
An attendant is useful for very large corporate events (200+ people) or a very elderly crowd. For a typical wedding, it is an unnecessary expense.

3. Wi-Fi or no Wi-Fi?
Many photo booths need a Wi-Fi connection. That is a real problem: châteaux, barns and wedding estates often have no connection at all, or an unreliable one.
Choose a photo booth that works 100% offline. The booth and the printer talk to each other directly, without going through the internet. Zero risk of dropping out.
4. Personalising the frame
A good photo booth offers a customisable frame with your names, the date and your colours. That is what turns a simple photo into a wedding keepsake.
Watch out: some providers charge €30 to €80 extra for personalisation. Check before you book.
5. The real budget
Here is what the different options cost for a wedding with 100 guests:
| Solution | Price | What’s included |
|---|---|---|
| Photo booth + attendant | €600 to €1,200 | 3-4 hours, set up by the provider |
| Selfie booth hire | €400 to €800 | Varies, often without printing |
| Badabooth 150 fast photos | €244 (delivery included) | 150 photos, GIFs, custom frame, prepaid return included |
| Badabooth Large booth, 400 photos | €359 (delivery included) | 400 photos, prepaid return included |
The price difference comes from having no attendant and no travel. The photo quality is identical.
6. Where to put the photo booth
Location is everything. A badly placed photo booth will be ignored.
Good spots:
- Near the buffet or the dance floor (where the atmosphere is)
- In a wide corridor or an adjoining lounge
- Visible from the main room
Bad spots:
- In an isolated corner that nobody can see
- Too close to the speakers (the noise gets in the way)
- In direct sunlight (shadows on the photos)
Plan for: a power socket within 3 metres, and 2m × 2m of space in front.
7. The timeline
- 3 months before: book (summer Saturdays go fast)
- 1 month before: create your personalised frame online
- 7 days before: check out the spot and the power socket
- The day before: receive the parcel, test it for 5 minutes
- On the day: set up 30 minutes before the guests arrive
- The day after: pack up and drop it off at a UPS point
8. Photo booth + photographer: no overlap
The photographer captures the ceremony, the portraits and the key moments. The photo booth captures everything in between: the silly faces, the groups of friends, the late-night madness. The two complement each other.
The photo booth runs during the reception (while the photographer is doing the group shots) and then throughout the evening party.

Does the photo booth work outdoors? Yes, as long as it is sheltered (marquee, pergola). Protect it from rain and direct sunlight.
Are the photos available digitally? Yes: your guests leave with their paper print on the day, and all the digital photos and GIFs are sent via a download link after the event.
Can the frame be personalised? Yes, free of charge. You create your design online: names, date, colours, patterns.
Do you need Wi-Fi? No. The Badabooth works without an internet connection.
