10 photo booth activity ideas for your wedding
A photo booth tucked away in a corner is nice. A photo booth with a proper activity around it is unforgettable. Here are 10 ideas tried and approved by our customers.
1. The photo guestbook
The timeless classic. Your guests take a photo, stick it in an album and write a message next to it. You go home with a priceless keepsake.
Set-up: a blank album, glue sticks and coloured felt-tip pens, laid out on a table next to the photo booth.

2. The photo challenge
Prepare a list of photo challenges displayed next to the booth:
- “A photo with someone you met tonight”
- “Copy the couple’s pose on the invitation”
- “The silliest face”
- “A photo with 5 people from different tables”
It breaks the ice between guests who don’t know each other.
3. Themed props
Beyond the classics (moustaches, glasses), tailor the props to your theme:
- Country: flower crowns, straw hats
- Boho: dreamcatchers, feathers
- Vintage: gold frames, bow ties, fans
- Fun: “Team Groom / Team Bride” signs, giant emojis
Budget: €15-€30 on Amazon or in a party shop.
4. The before / after the dance floor photo
Ask guests to take one photo when they arrive (smart, hair done, fresh) and another at the end of the night (tie undone, make-up smudged, shoes in hand). The contrast is always hilarious.
Tip: put up a “BEFORE” sign in the evening and an “AFTER” sign from midnight.
5. The table photo
Announce over the microphone that each table must come to the photo booth as a group. It creates a mini competition between tables for the best pose. The DJ can even score the photos.
6. The message wall
Put up a large board next to the photo booth where guests stick their photo and write a message, a memory or an anecdote about the couple. At the end of the evening, you have a unique wall of memories.
7. The decades corner
Prepare props for each era:
- The 70s: flares, disco glasses
- The 80s: neon wigs, bandanas
- The 90s: backwards caps, Walkmans
- The 2000s: oversized sunglasses
Guests pick their decade and pose.
8. The photo wish box
Each guest takes a photo, puts it in an envelope with a wish for the couple, and drops it into a decorated box. The couple open the envelopes on their wedding anniversary.
9. The first and the last
The first photo of the evening is taken by the couple. So is the last one. In between, every guest has a go. You have the complete story of the evening in photos.
10. The Instagram hashtag
Create a unique hashtag (#MariageJulieetMarc), display it in large letters next to the photo booth, and invite your guests to post their photos. The next day, you’ll find everything on Instagram.
The combinations that work best
- Guestbook + themed props: the most popular combo
- Photo challenge + table photo: ideal for mixing groups of guests
- Before/after + hashtag: perfect for social media

Frequently asked questions
Do you need an attendant for these activities? No. Everything is prepared in advance (props, signs, challenges). The photo booth runs on its own.
How much do the props cost? €15-€30 for a full kit, to buy yourself: Badabooth does not supply physical props (the booth offers animated emojis that follow faces). For the guestbook, the option on offer is the Video Guestbook at €50.
Can you combine a photo booth and a photographer? Yes, they complement each other. The photographer captures the official moments, the photo booth the spontaneous ones. Find out more
