Looking for a photo booth without blowing your budget? Here is what it really costs, what is included, and the traps to avoid. For the full breakdown, see our page on photo booth prices.
Real market prices
| Segment | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Self-service booth (entry level) | €99 to €150 | Booth delivered, you set it up. Digital photos, sometimes no printing. |
| Self-service booth (with printing) | €129 to €300 | All inclusive: printed photos, GIFs, delivery, return. |

The real question is not “how much does it cost” but “what is included in the price”.
What pushes the bill up

- Frame personalisation: €15 to €50 with some suppliers
- Return: €20 to €50 if not prepaid
- Digital photos / gallery: sometimes charged as an extra
- Attendant: €200 to €400 on top
Before booking, add everything up and compare the real cost.

DIY: the idea that sounds good but isn’t
“What if I made my own photo booth with an iPad on a tripod?” We understand the temptation. But in practice:
- No instant printing: your guests take nothing home
- Mediocre photo quality: an iPad flash versus a professional flash, especially in a dark venue
- No custom frame
- Questionable reliability: battery, app crashing, screen locking itself
- The time it takes: between buying the tripod, the app and testing, you will spend hours on it
In the end, you will have spent €50-80 on kit for a result far below a ready-to-use booth at €99 (delivery included).
The traps to avoid
1. “From €99”: check what is included At €99, it is 100% digital (no printed photos). It is a genuinely good deal if your guests share everything on their phones: our 100 % Digital package at €99 includes unlimited photos and GIFs, a custom frame and a gallery. But check elsewhere: some suppliers charge extra for the gallery or personalisation. And if you want photos in hand (across the 327 events whose counters we have recorded, guests leave with 1.5 to 2 prints each), allow €129 minimum.
2. The time slot With an attendant, you pay for 3-4 hours. If dinner runs late, you lose time. With a self-service booth, there is no time limit.
3. Hidden delivery costs Check whether delivery AND return are included. Some suppliers charge €30-50 for the return.
4. Geographical coverage Suppliers with an attendant do not always cover your area (or they charge for travel). Our booths are shipped by parcel and cover the whole of France at the same price: see our photo booth hire page, from Paris to Dijon.

FAQ
What is the average price of a photo booth?
To hire, a photo booth costs on average €150 to €300 for a self-service evening, delivery included, and €500 to €1,000 with an attendant on site. At Badabooth, the self-service booth starts at €99 for the digital version and €129 with 50 printed photos, delivery included.
What is a photo booth?
A photo booth is a self-service photo station set up for the duration of an event: guests stand in front of it, trigger the shot on the touchscreen and leave with a printed or digital photo, dressed in a custom frame. It is the modern heir to the station photo booth, without the cabin or the coin slot.
How much does a photo booth package cost?
A photo booth package includes the booth, the printer, the paper, the custom frame and delivery both ways. Allow €129 for 50 photos, €244 to €314 for 150 to 300 fast photos and €229 for unlimited printing, all delivered. Options such as the QR code, logo removal or insurance cost €25 to €30 each.
How much does it cost to hire a photomaton?
Hiring a photo booth for an evening costs between €99 (100% digital) and €479 (large booth, 800 photos) depending on the number of printed photos, delivery included. Prices of €500 and above correspond to services with an attendant. The full breakdown is on our photo booth prices page.
How much does photo booth hire cost in Paris?
The same as anywhere else in France: the booth is shipped by parcel, so there are no travel costs. In Paris, a photo booth costs €129 with 50 printed photos, €229 with unlimited printing or €244 for 150 fast photos, delivery included. See our photo booth hire in Paris page.
What is the difference between a photo booth and a photomaton?
A photomaton is a closed, coin-operated cabin that produces standard ID photos. A photo booth is an open station designed for parties: several people in the shot, props, a custom frame, prints or digital sharing. In event hire, both words now refer to the same booth.
What is “photobooth” in French?
In French, people say “borne photo” or “borne à selfie”. The recommended term is “borne photo”, but “photobooth” remains the word most used by wedding and corporate event organisers, ahead of “photomaton”, which was originally a registered trademark.
Is it worth investing in a photo booth?
Rarely for an individual: a professional booth costs €3,000 to €6,000 to buy, plus the printer, paper and maintenance, and it gets used once or twice a year. Hiring from €99, delivery included, remains far more economical. Buying only makes sense for an events professional who hires it out every weekend.
Where can I buy a photo booth?
From specialist manufacturers or on marketplaces, between €3,000 and €6,000 for a professional booth, excluding the printer and consumables. For a wedding, a birthday or a corporate party, hiring from €99 with delivery included avoids that investment and storing it between parties.
What is the best photo booth for a wedding?
The best photo booth for a wedding is a self-service booth with fast printing, a frame personalised with the couple’s names, a simple touchscreen and no need for Wi-Fi. For 100 guests, plan for 300 to 400 prints, meaning a package between €229 and €359 delivered. See our guide to the wedding photo booth.
What equipment do you need to make a photo booth?
You need a tablet or a camera, front lighting, a sturdy stand, a shooting app with a countdown, a dye-sublimation photo printer (DNP or Canon SELPHY) and a backdrop or printed frame. Putting this kit together yourself costs €800 to €1,500, with no guarantee of reliability on the day.
Can you hire a photo booth for less than €100?
Yes: our 100 % Digital package at €99, delivery included, comes with unlimited photos and GIFs, instant sharing and a custom frame. With printing, the minimum is €129 for 50 printed photos.
Is a cheap photo booth good quality?
Yes. The low price does not come from lower quality but from having no attendant and shipping by parcel instead of a supplier travelling to you. The booth, the printer and the paper are the same as in €500 services.
How many photos should you plan for?
Allow 1.5 to 2 prints per guest. For 30 guests, 50 printed photos are enough; for 80 guests, plan for 150 fast photos; for 150 guests, the 400-photo large booth.
Do you need Wi-Fi?
No. The Badabooth booth works entirely offline: shooting, printing and the custom frame do not depend on any connection. Digital sharing then happens through an online gallery.
