Photo booth for a wedding in the Beaujolais: the complete guide

Photo booth for a wedding in the Beaujolais: the complete guide

Getting married in the Beaujolais means choosing a truly unique region: 1 hour from Lyon, 2 hours from Dijon, surrounded by AOC vineyards and golden-stone châteaux. But it also means choosing venues that are often isolated and poorly connected, where standard event services reach their limits. Here is how to set up a photo booth there without the stress, and what you need to know before you book.

Why the Beaujolais is perfect for a wedding

The region brings together three rare ingredients:

  1. Photogenic landscapes all year round: green vines in summer, russet leaves in October, snow on the ridges in winter.
  2. Wine estates that can be hired for weddings: often with a visit of the estate and accommodation included.
  3. Close to Lyon: 45 minutes to 1 hour’s drive for most guests coming from Lyon.

Each of the 10 Beaujolais crus (Brouilly, Chénas, Chiroubles, Côte de Brouilly, Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Régnié, Saint-Amour) has its own atmosphere. Saint-Amour is especially popular for weddings, which is hardly surprising given the name.

Typical wedding venues in the Beaujolais

Wine châteaux

These are the most sought-after venues. Usually a working estate that hires out its grounds and function rooms for private weddings at weekends.

Examples of estates that hire out:

  • Château de la Chaize (Brouilly)
  • Château de Pizay (hotel + estate, Morgon)
  • Château de Corcelles
  • Domaine du Moulin à Vent
  • Clos de la Platière
  • Château de Bagnols (high-end, Pierres Dorées)

Rustic village halls

For a more relaxed wedding or a tighter budget. Every village in the Pierres Dorées area has its own community hall, often available to hire for family weddings.

Villages worth looking at: Oingt, Ternand, Ville-sur-Jarnioux, Bagnols, Theizé, Jarnioux.

Holiday estates and converted barns

Very fashionable over the past 5 years: renovated barns with adjoining holiday cottages to put up your guests.

Examples: Domaine des Grandes Vignes, La Grange de Saint-Georges, Le Clos des Pierres Dorées.

The challenges of a Beaujolais wedding (and how to solve them)

Challenge #1: Weak or no signal

Most wine estates are out in the countryside, surrounded by vines, with patchy 4G coverage and Wi-Fi that is often non-existent or limited to the reception area.

The consequences:

  • Connected photo booths (Kruu, Photoglow, most “selfie” booths) work badly or not at all.
  • Guests cannot easily share their photos live.
  • Card payments can be tricky at certain moments.

The Badabooth solution: the photo booth works 100% offline. No connection needed. Photos are printed right there on the spot, so your guests leave with their photo in hand. The digital photos are transferred later, once you are back within range of a network.

Challenge #2: The distance

The Beaujolais is roughly 1 hour from Lyon, 2 hours from Dijon, 4 hours from Paris and 5 hours from Bordeaux. So standard suppliers based in Lyon may refuse to travel or charge hefty travel fees.

The Badabooth solution: UPS delivery from our Dijon workshop, straight to the estate. Shipped the day before, delivered before noon the next day. No travel, no logistics to handle on your side.

Challenge #3: Setting up and packing away

No attendant available in the Beaujolais? Not necessarily a problem, but the booth does need to be simple.

The Badabooth solution: set-up in 5 minutes (screw on 3 legs, fit the light-up sign, plug in). Return: put everything back in the box, stick on the prepaid label and drop it off at a UPS access point. That’s it.

Challenge #4: The weather

A Beaujolais wedding often means outdoors (reception on a terrace, ceremony among the vines). A thunderstorm can throw everything into chaos.

Our recommendation: set up the photo booth indoors or under a marquee. Paper prints are sensitive to humidity. Plan for a covered room with a power socket nearby.

Badabooth at a Beaujolais wedding, step by step

Before the wedding (30 to 3 days before)

  1. Book your package: for a wedding of 80-100 guests, the 150 fast photos package at €244 is enough. For 150+, go for the 400-photo large booth package at €359.
  2. Personalise your frame: we do it free of charge. Send us your first names, the date, a logo or an image that matches your theme. We send you the mock-up to approve.
  3. Choose a reliable delivery address: the estate itself, or one of the couple’s homes 2-3 days beforehand. Be careful: some estates refuse deliveries outside agreed time slots, so check with them.

The day before / the big day

  1. Receiving the box: we deliver by UPS with a tracking number. You receive a single parcel with all the equipment.
  2. Setting up: 5 minutes. Screw the legs onto the booth, plug it into a standard socket (220V), fit the light-up sign. The printer unit is built in.
  3. Testing: take a test photo to check that the print comes out properly. You’re ready.

During the evening

  • No attendant needed: guests understand how it works in 5 seconds. Stand in front, tap, it prints.
  • Photos come out in 10 seconds and can be stuck into a guestbook.
  • Unlimited GIFs and digital photos: every guest leaves with their paper print, and receives the digital version of all the photos via a download link after the event.

After the wedding (1 or 2 days later)

  1. Pack away in 5 minutes
  2. Put everything back in the box with all the accessories
  3. Stick the prepaid return label on top
  4. Drop it off at a UPS access point (there is one in every Beaujolais village or in Villefranche)
  5. Receive the transfer link by email with all the photos and GIFs from the wedding

Mistakes to avoid

❌ Hiring a photo booth that needs Wi-Fi: at 90% of estates, it will work very badly or not at all.

❌ Setting up directly outdoors: humidity, dew, wind. Paper prints curl, and guests may knock a drink over the booth.

❌ Booking the day before for the next day: UPS logistics need 24-48 hours in transit. We recommend ordering at least 1 week ahead.

❌ Forgetting to plan for a power socket: some estates have sockets a long way off, so bring a multi-socket extension lead.

❌ Underestimating the number of guests: at a wedding of 120 people, everyone wants their photo. Go for the 400-photo large booth package (€359, 400 photos) or the 150 fast photos package topped up with a 150-photo refill (+€70).

Frequently asked questions: Beaujolais weddings

Can the photo booth be delivered straight to the château? Yes. Just give us the exact address of the estate and the name of someone who will be there to receive it. If the estate is closed during the week, we can deliver to a witness or a relative in Lyon, and you bring it along on the day.

Is there a delivery surcharge for the Beaujolais? No. The price shown is all-inclusive, whichever Beaujolais village you are in.

Can we use the Badabooth over two days (reception on Saturday + brunch on Sunday)? Yes. The standard hire is for one day, but you can keep it for 48 hours at no extra cost, as it fits within the normal timing. For longer use (3+ days), get in touch with us.

Does the photo booth suit a vineyard or country theme? Yes, it is actually its natural look: light wood booth, retro light-up sign, vintage feel. Beaujolais brides love it.
